Sand Tarts - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter or Crisco
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    1/2 tsp. soda, dissolved in a little hot water
    1 tsp. vanilla
    flour (about 3 c.)
Preparation
    Add enough flour to the ingredients to make a moderately stiff dough.
    Make into a long roll.
    Wrap in waxed paper and chill overnight in refrigerator.
    Cut off small portions and roll thin. After cutting, brush each cookie with unbeaten egg white.
    Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
    Trim with candy or nuts.
    For other holidays, trim with colored sugar, sprinkles, etc.
    They keep well.
