Mock Apple Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. peeled, cored and diced apples
    2 c. flour
    1 Tbsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 c. sugar
    5 Tbsp. shortening
    2/3 c. milk
    cinnamon and sugar
Preparation
    Blend flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and shortening like pie crust.
    Add milk and mix thoroughly until forms a soft dough. On a floured surface, pat dough, then roll out to a rectangular shape with 1/4-inch to 1/2-inch thickness.
    Spread softened margarine over the dough.
    Sprinkle cinnamon, sugar, apples, and more cinnamon and sugar.
    Roll up like a jelly roll.
    Cut in 2-inch slices and place in 9 x 13-inch pan (sprayed).
    Pour Syrup (recipe follows) over slices.
    Bake at 425\u00b0 for 30 minutes or tops are golden brown and center is firm.
    Serve warm or cold.
