Grandma'S Apple Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    2 c. water
    1/4 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 c. butter
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 c. shortening
    1/2 c. milk
    4 c. apples, peeled and diced
Preparation
    Mix flour, salt, baking powder and shortening; mix in milk. Roll out dough in rectangle.
    Spread with apples and sprinkle with a little cinnamon and sugar.
    Roll up like jelly roll and slice about 1 1/4 inch thick.
    Place in 9 X 13 pan.
    Boil sugar, water, cinnamon and butter.
    Pour over dumplings.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes.
    Serve with whipped cream.
