Lady Sarah'S Doughnuts(My Sweet Mother) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. sifted flour or enough to make firm dough
    2 Tbsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. each: nutmeg and cinnamon
    1 c. sugar
    1 heaping Tbsp. shortening
    2 eggs (room temperature)
    1 1/2 c. milk (room temperature)
    1 tsp. vinegar
Preparation
    Sift together flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, baking powder, salt and baking soda.
    Beat eggs until thick and lemon colored; gradually beat in sugar.
    Add melted shortening, milk and vinegar, then add flour mixture.
    Mix well.
    Chill for a time, then turn out on floured cloth.
