Red Devil'S Food Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1/2 c. butter
2 eggs
1 heaping tsp. soda
2/3 c. cocoa, dissolved in 1/2 c. boiling water
1/4 tsp. salt
2 c. sugar
1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. vanilla

Preparation

Cream butter; slowly add sugar.
Cream thoroughly.
Add well beaten eggs and soda, dissolved in a little hot water, and cocoa, mixed with a little hot water.
Alternately add sour milk and flour.
Mix to smooth batter.
Add vanilla.
Bake in moderate oven 35 to 40 minutes.
