Corn Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. corn meal
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. flour
2 eggs
4 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 c. milk
1 Tbsp. sugar (optional)
3 Tbsp. bacon drippings or shortening
Preparation

Mix corn meal, flour, baking powder, sugar and salt.
Beat eggs; add milk and stir into corn meal mixture.
Heat fat in a 9 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan in a preheated 425\u00b0 oven until hot.
Tilt pan to coat with fat, then pour off and stir excess fat into batter.
Pour batter into pan and bake for 25 minutes or until bread pulls away from sides of pan.
Cut into squares and serve hot with butter.
Makes 9 servings.
