Gone All Day Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 to 2 lb. cubed beef
    5 medium potatoes
    5 stalks celery
    5 medium onions
    3 carrots
    1 medium head cabbage
    1 bay leaf
    1 large can tomatoes
    1 clove garlic (optional)
Preparation
    Dice potatoes and onions.
    Cut celery in 1-inch lengths.
    Cut up carrots.
    Slice cabbage in small slices.
    Add tomatoes, bay leaf and garlic clove.
    Add 4 cups water.
    Cook all in large roasting pan (covered) in oven for 4 to 6 hours at 300\u00b0.
