Buttermilk Scones - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. all-purpose flour
    1/3 c. granulated sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    6 Tbsp. unsalted butter, chilled
    1/2 c. buttermilk
    1 large egg
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
    2/3 c. currants or raisins (optional)
Preparation
    In large bowl, stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
    With pastry blender or 2 knives, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
    In small bowl, stir together buttermilk, egg and vanilla.
    Add buttermilk mixture to flour mixture and stir to combine.
    Stir in currants or raisins, if desired.
