Spiced Peaches - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 c. sugar
    2 c. water
    1 c. vinegar
    12-inch stick cinnamon, broken in pieces
    2 tsp. whole cloves
    2 1/2 lb. peaches
Preparation
    Combine first 5 ingredients in large pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer.
    Wash, peel, halve and pit peaches.
    Add to syrup and heat 5 minutes.
    Pack fruit and syrup into hot jars, leaving a 1/2-inch headspace.
    Adjust lids.
    Process in boiling water bath 20 minutes.
    Makes 3 pints.
