Yams And Cherries - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (No. 2 1/2) can sweet potatoes
    3/4 c. brown sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 (No. 303) can cherry pie filling
Preparation
    Slice sweet potatoes 1/2-inch thick.
    Arrange layer in buttered casserole dish.
    Mix all dry ingredients; sprinkle over potatoes.
    Dot with 1 tablespoon butter.
    Add 1/2 of the cherries. Repeat until all ingredients are used.
    Pour potato liquid over layers until visible.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 40 minutes.
