Gumdrop Fruitcake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. thick applesauce
    1 1/2 c. honey
    1 c. shortening
    4 c. flour
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 lb. gumdrops (no green or black)
    2 pkg. raisins
    1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Quarter the gumdrops and the raisins and set them aside. Cream together honey, shortening, spices and salt.
    Add the applesauce and mix well.
    Sift in the flour and add the soda, again mixing well.
    (This makes a rather stiff batter.)
    Add gumdrops, raisins and nuts.
    Bake in cake pan with greased paper in bottom for about two hours in a slow oven.
