Apple Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 c. self-rising flour
    2 c. chopped, pared apples
    1/4 Tbsp. ground cinnamon
    2 eggs
Preparation
    Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Grease and flour a loaf pan.
    Mix 1 cup sugar, shortening, eggs and vanilla.
    Stir in flour until smooth. Stir in apple and nuts.
    Spread in pan.
    Mix 1 tablespoon sugar with cinnamon; sprinkle over batter.
    Bake until toothpick put in center comes out clean, approximately 50 to 60 minutes. Immediately remove from pan; cool bread before slicing.
