Ingredients

3/4 c. cider vinegar
1 1/2 c. water
1 1/4 c. sugar, divided
4 tsp. cinnamon, divided
2 c. sifted, enriched flour
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/3 c. shortening
3/4 c. milk
4 Tbsp. butter/margarine, divided
Preparation

Combine vinegar, water, 1 cup of the sugar and 2 teaspoons of the cinnamon.
Stir over low heat until sugar dissolves.
Cook over medium heat for 20 minutes.
