Jumbo Raisin Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. raisins
    1 c. water
    3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. Calumet baking powder
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1 c. shortening
    1 3/4 c. sugar
    2 eggs, slightly beaten
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Bring raisins to a boil in water; boil about 3 minutes. Set aside to
    cool;
    do
    not
    drain.
    Mix
    flour
    with\tbaking powder, soda,
    salt
    and spices.
    Cream shortening.
    Gradually add sugar, beating
    well
    after
    each addition.
    Beat in eggs. Stir in the raisins
    with
    liquid and vanilla.\tGradually add the flour mixture,
    blending\tthoroughly after each addition. Stir in nuts; drop
    from\ttablespoon
    about 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
    Bake
    at
    375\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes. Makes 2 1/2 dozen.
