Surprise Snowballs - cooking recipe

Ingredients

3/4 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 3/4 c. flour
3/4 c. powdered sugar
chocolate covered peanuts, gumdrops, jelly beans and/or M&M's

Preparation

In a large mixing bowl, beat butter on medium until softened. Add sugar and salt; beat until fluffy.
Add egg and vanilla; beat well.
On low, gradually add flour.
Shape the dough into 1-inch balls.
Press a piece of candy in center of each and shape the dough around it.
Place balls about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 15 minutes or until edges are golden.
Place powdered sugar in a plastic bag.
With a spatula, transfer 2 to 3 cookies at a time into the bag.
Gently shake sugar onto the cookies.
Cool on a cooling rack.
When cool, gently shake cookies again.
