Society Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. lean ground beef, browned with 1 crushed garlic clove
    1/2 tsp. black pepper
    1/2 tsp. oregano
    1/2 tsp. basil
    1/2 tsp. seasoned salt
    1/2 tsp. sugar
    dash of cayenne
    1 Tbsp. parsley flakes
    2 envelopes Lipton onion soup
    1 large can Italian-style tomatoes, pureed in blender
    1 c. chopped celery
    1 c. chopped celery leaves
    1 c. chopped carrots
    1 c. tiny peas (frozen)
    1 c. corn (frozen)
    1 Tbsp. finely chopped green pepper
    1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
    10 c. water
    1/2 c. dry red wine (optional)
Preparation
    Simmer ingredients 30 minutes, covered.
    Add 1/3 cup of barley and simmer 30 minutes more, covered.
    Add 1/2 cup alphabet macaroni and simmer 15 more minutes, covered.
    Serve with croutons and Parmesan cheese, if desired.
