Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sifted flour
    1/4 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 c. sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. ginger
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. ground cloves
    1/2 c. milk
    1 egg, beaten
    1/2 c. molasses
    1/4 c. melted shortening or vegetable oil
Preparation
    Sift together dry ingredients. Add milk to beaten egg. Pour into dry ingredients and stir until smooth. Stir in molasses and shortening or oil. Pour batter into greased shallow pan (about 8 inches square). Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 40 minutes. Serve warm or cooled with sweetened whipped cream.
