Cabbage Patch Stew - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 lb. ground beef (more if you like plenty of meat)
2 Tbsp. salad oil
2 medium onions, thinly sliced
1 c. shredded cabbage
1/2 c. diced celery
2 c. water
1 (15 oz.) can kidney beans (undrained)
1 c. chopped, cooked tomatoes
salt and pepper to taste
1 tsp. chili powder
hot mashed potatoes (optional)
Preparation

Brown beef in hot oil over medium heat.
Add onions, cabbage and celery.
Cook until onions are transparent.
Add water; simmer over low heat 15 minutes.
Add beans, tomatoes, salt, pepper and chili powder.
Simmer over low heat 15 minutes.
If desired, top with spoonfuls of mashed potatoes before serving.
Yields 6 servings.
