"Oma'S" (Grandma'S) Bread Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. scalded milk
    4 c. bread or cake crumbs
    1/4 c. melted butter
    1/2 c. sugar
    2 large eggs, beaten
    1/2 c. raisins
    1/2 c. dried fruits (any type), soaked in a little brandy or wine
    1 tsp. vanilla, cinnamon or nutmeg
    1/2 c. slivered almonds (optional)
    whipped cream or wine sauce
Preparation
    Scald milk.
    Pour over bread crumbs and eggs.
    Add butter, sugar, raisins, fruit, slivered almonds and spices.
    Pour into well-buttered ovenproof dish (1 1/2-quart).
    Set in hot water about 1 to 1 1/2 inches deep; bake at 350\u00b0 for about 1 hour.
    (Try center; should come out dry.)
    Dot with butter and cinnamon-sugar if desired.
    Serve hot or cold with whipped cream or wine sauce (optional).
