Apple Cider Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 large onions, sliced
    3 Tbsp. vegetable oil
    2 lb. beef, cut in chunks
    3 Tbsp. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1/4 tsp. thyme leaves
    1 1/2 c. apple cider or juice
    1 Tbsp. ketchup
    3 large potatoes, peeled and cut in chunks
    4 carrots, peeled and cut in chunks
    1 small (7 oz.) can whole kernel corn (optional)
Preparation
    Brown onions in hot oil; push aside and brown meat.
    Combine flour, salt, pepper and thyme; add to pan and stir.
    Stir in cider and ketchup.
    (Add water to thin if necessary.)
    Cover and cook slowly until meat is almost tender, about 2 hours.
    Add potatoes, carrots and corn; simmer 30 minutes or until vegetables are done.
    Makes 6 servings.
