Dutch Rusk - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. melted lard
    1 1/2 qt. warm water
    1 c. sugar
    1/4 c. salt
    2 pkg. dry yeast, prepared in water-sugar mix
    3 tsp. vanilla
    3 eggs
    flour to make nice dough
Preparation
    Mix first 4 ingredients, then add flour to thicken slightly. Add the next 3 ingredients and mix.
    Add flour until right for punching.
    Lard sides of pan.
    Knead a few minutes more.
    Let rise 2 times.
    Make into large 3-inch buns.
    Let raise.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 and let cool.
    Slice each bun in 2 or 3 slices.
    Dry in low oven until crisp.
