Date Nut Roll - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    1 c. milk
    1 pkg. pitted dates, chopped
    2 c. pecans, chopped
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 Tbsp. butter
Preparation
    Mix sugar, milk and butter and cook until it forms a firm ball in cold water.
    Fold in the dates and bring to a boil.
    Remove from heat and beat thoroughly.
    Add vanilla and nuts and stir. Pour onto a damp tea towel and roll lengthwise.
    Let harden.
    Cut in 1/4 inch slices.
    Store in tightly covered container.
