German-Style Red Cabbage - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 small red cabbage
    1 small onion, chopped
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    1 bay leaf
    1/4 c. water
    2 Tbsp. red wine vinegar
    1 apple, peeled and chopped
    3 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
Preparation
    Cut cabbage into 6 wedges, removing core; place in large saucepan.
    Add onion, sugar, salt, bay leaf and water.
    Bring to boil.
    Cover, reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes.
    Add vinegar and apple; cover and cook 3 to 4 minutes or until apple is tender.
