Red Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    2 oz. red food coloring
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 tsp. cocoa
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 1/2 c. sifted flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. white vinegar
Preparation
    Mix vinegar and soda and set aside.
    Cream sugar and shortening; add eggs.
    Add a little food coloring to cocoa to make a paste.
    Add to creamed mixture with rest of coloring.
    Add flour and salt, alternating with milk.
    Add vanilla, then vinegar and soda.
    Beat well.
    Use 2 (8-inch) round pans (greased and floured).
    Bake 30 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    When cooked, split to make 4 layers.
