Cherries In The Snow - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 egg whites
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1 tub Cool Whip
    1/2 Tbsp. cream of tartar
    1 1/2 c. broken soda crackers
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    1 can cherry pie filling
Preparation
    Butter a 9 x 13-inch glass pan. Beat egg whites and cream of tartar, adding sugar a little at a time, until stiff peaks form. Add vanilla, nuts and crushed soda crackers. Mix well. Place into pan and bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
    Cool. Add Cool Whip making high peaks, and then add the cherries. Refrigerate any leftovers. Makes 8 large servings.
