Navy Bean Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 to 4 c. navy beans
    ham bone
    6 c. boiling water
    1 bay leaf
    3 peppercorns
    3 whole cloves
    1 carrot, diced
    2 stalks diced celery with leaves
Preparation
    Soak beans overnight.
    Boil ham bone, water, bay leaf, peppercorns and cloves.
    Add beans; boil 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
    Last half hour, add the rest of ingredients.
    Add salt and pepper to taste.
    Makes 6 cups.
