Tortoni Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. chopped toasted almonds
    4 Tbsp. melted oleo
    1 1/3 c. vanilla wafer crumbs
    1 tsp. almond flavoring
    3 pt. vanilla ice cream, softened
    12 oz. apricot preserves
Preparation
    Combine almonds, oleo, crumbs and extract; mix well.
    Sprinkle 1/3 of crumbs over bottom of 8 1/2 x 11-inch pan that is lined with foil.
    Spoon half of ice cream over crumbs.
    Drizzle with preserves.
    Sprinkle with crumbs.
    Repeat layers.
    Store in freezer.
    Cut in squares and garnish with whipped cream, if desired.
