Cherry Nut Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. chopped pecans or walnuts
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1/4 c. shortening
1/4 c. maraschino cherry juice
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 c. chopped maraschino cherries
Preparation

Combine all ingredients except cherries in a mixing bowl. Blend on low speed of electric mixer 15 seconds; increase to medium speed and blend 30 additional seconds.
Stir in cherries. Pour batter into a greased and floured 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan. Bake at 350\u00b0
for 1 hour and 10 to 15 minutes, or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
Cool 10 minutes in pan; remove to wire rack and cool completely.
Yields 1 loaf.
