Mom'S Hot Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. butter
    1 c. buttermilk or half and half
    2 eggs
    3 c. flour
    3 tsp. baking powder
    pinch of salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar together.
    Add eggs and dry ingredients alternately with milk.
    Stir in vanilla.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 until straw comes clean.
    Serve with a hot caramel sauce.
