Gingersnap Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    3/4 c. shortening
    1/4 c. molasses
    1 beaten egg
    2 c. flour
    2 1/4 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. ginger
    1/4 tsp. salt
Preparation
    In large bowl, beat together sugar and shortening; add molasses.
    Mix well.
    Add beaten egg.
    Stir together all remaining ingredients.
    Mix into molasses mixture until thoroughly combined. Cover and chill at least 1 hour or overnight.
    Roll dough into 1-inch balls, then place balls into granulated
    sugar.
    Place balls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes.
