White Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. milk
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    2 tsp. salt
    2 1/2 Tbsp. shortening
    1 c. warm water
    1 pkg. yeast
    6 c. sifted flour
Preparation
    Scald milk. Stir in sugar, salt and shortening. Cool to lukewarm.
    Pour warm water into bowl. Sprinkle yeast and dissolve. Add milk mixture. Stir half the flour into mixture, then add rest of flour and combine.
    Turn dough onto floured surface and knead. Put into greased bowl.
    Brush with melted shortening.
    Cover and let rise 1 hour and 20 minutes. Punch down. Divide into 2 equal parts.
    Knead.
    Place in loaf pan.
    Let rise 55 minutes.
    Bake at 400\u00b0 for 50 minutes.
    Makes 2 loaves.
