Pineapple Upside-Down Cake - cooking recipe

1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/3 c. butter
1 c. light brown sugar
6 slices pineapple
cherries (optional)
Preparation

Prepare cake batter using first 8 ingredients.
Melt 1/3 cup butter and brown sugar in cake pan (10 to 12-inch) or an iron skillet.
Put the pineapple in the pan and place a cherry in the center of each pineapple slice if you wish.
Then cover with cake batter.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 35 minutes.
Loosen cake from sides of pan and invert on large plate.
Serve warm or cold, plain or with whipped cream.
