Sauerbraten Patties - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 slices dry white bread, cut in 1/2-inch cubes
3/4 c. hot water
1 to 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
1 onion, minced
1 egg
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 Tbsp. butter
1/3 c. vinegar
1 c. water
5 whole cloves
3 bay leaves
6 gingersnaps, crumbled
Preparation

Soften bread in water.
Add beef, onion, egg, salt and pepper and mix thoroughly.
Form into patties.
Brown on both sides in butter in heavy skillet.
Mix remaining ingredients.
Pour over meat.
Cook, covered, on low heat for 30 to 40 minutes.
