Aunt Lettie'S Pound Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 1/2 c. sifted plain flour
    2 sticks butter
    2 2/3 c. sugar
    8 eggs
    2 sticks margarine (corn oil)
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    1/2 c. evaporated milk
    1 tsp. lemon flavoring
Preparation
    Separate eggs.
    Beat egg whites until stiff.
    Add 6 tablespoons of sugar gradually.
    Put in refrigerator.
    Cream butter and add remainder of sugar.
    Beat at low speed.
    Add 2 egg yolks at a time.
    Add milk and flour alternately.
    Add flavoring and fold in egg whites.
    Pour into greased steeple pan.
    Bake 1 3/4 hours in a 300\u00b0 oven.
