German Split Pea Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 slice salt bacon
    1 ham hock
    1 large onion, diced
    3 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
    1 pkg. dried split peas, washed and drained
    12 c. water
    1/2 tsp. thyme
    1 pkg. Lipton golden onion soup mix
    1 pkg. knockwurst hot dogs, chopped
    1 lb. kielbasa sausage, sliced 1/8-inch
Preparation
    Dice salt bacon and saute with onion.
    Pour all ingredients into a Dutch oven and cook for 6 hours.
    Serves 10.
