Squash Supreme - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 qt squash (white or yellow)
    1 can cream of chicken soup, undiluted
    1 c cheddar cheese, grated
    1/2 c cracker crumbs
    1/2 c water chestnuts, cut
    1/2 c canned mushrooms, chopped & browned in butter
    3 dashes of white pepper
Preparation
    Put squash in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Drain well. Butter a 1 1/2 quart baking dish. Beginning with a sprinkle of cheese, alternate ingredients by layers. Save a little cheese for topping. Bake in oven at 350 degrees until contents bubble. Sprinkle remaining cheese over top. Brown and serve immediately.
