Old-Fashioned Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter
    1/2 c. sugar
    2 large eggs
    1/2 c. molasses
    1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1 tsp. ground allspice
    1 tsp. ground ginger
    1 c. hot water
Preparation
    Preheat the oven to 350\u00b0. Beat butter at medium speed of an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Gradually add sugar, beating well. Add eggs and molasses, mixing well. Combine flour and next 4 ingredients. Add to butter mixture alternately with hot water, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix after each addition. Pour batter into a greased and floured 8-inch square pan. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes. Serve with whipped cream. Makes 9 servings.
