Hot Water Gingerbread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. molasses
3 Tbsp. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking soda
2/3 c. boiling water
2 eggs, well beaten
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. raisins
2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cloves or allspice
Preparation

Put molasses,
shortening
and\tsugar
in
mixing bowl. Dissolve baking soda in boiling water and pour into bowl.
Mix well and let cool.\tAdd
eggs, nuts and raisins.
Mix and sift remaining ingredients.
Add to mixture in bowl, mix well until smooth.
Pour into 8 x 8 x 2-inch cake pan.
Bake in 350\u00b0 oven for about 50 to 60 minutes.
