Ingredients

2 c. sugar
1 box powdered sugar
1 lb. butter
3/4 lb. shortening
4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. cream of tartar
2 tsp. baking soda
8 1/2 c. flour
Preparation

Blend first 4 ingredients until light and creamy.
Stir together
dry
ingredients.
Gradually
add to creamed mixture and mix
well until blended.
Form dough into balls.
Flatten with glass dipped in sugar or drop by spoon and mash with fork dipped in water.
This recipe may be cut down to one half.
