Refrigerator Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. sliced cucumbers
    2 or 3 onions, sliced
    4 c. sugar
    4 c. vinegar
    1 1/3 tsp. turmeric
    1 1/3 tsp. mustard seed
    1 1/3 tsp. celery seed
    1/4 c. (scant) canning salt
Preparation
    Layer cucumbers and onions in a large container (not metal). Mix remaining ingredients until sugar is dissolved.
    Pour over cucumbers.
    Let set in refrigerator 5 days before using.
