Polka Dot Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 c. chopped dates
    3/4 c. softened butter
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
    1 c. hot water
    1 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 (6 oz.) chocolate chips
Preparation
    Mix dates and hot water.
    Let cool.
    Cream butter and sugar, then beat in eggs.
    Sift dry ingredients and add to cream mixture. Add dates, vanilla and 1/2 cup chocolate chips.
    Spread batter in greased pan.
    Top with remaining chocolate chips and nuts.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 35 minutes.
