Jalapeno Refried Bean Dip - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. lard or bacon drippings
    1/4 c. onion, minced (1 small)
    1 small clove garlic, minced
    1 (1 lb.) can refried beans or cooked pinto beans, mashed with liquid
    1 to 2 canned hot jalapeno chili peppers, seeded and diced
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. shredded Longhorn or mild Cheddar cheese
    crisp-fried corn tortilla chips or corn chips
Preparation
    Heat lard or drippings in a small skillet.
    Add onion and garlic.
    Saute 1 minute.
    Add refried or mashed pinto beans.
    Cook, stirring frequently, until well mixed and lard is absorbed.
    Stir in chili peppers, salt and 1/4 cup of the cheese.
    Serve with chips.
    (If dip is too firm, add a little water.)
