Pretzels - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 1/2 C. warm water
1 pkg. dry yeast
1/2 tsp sugar
4 1/2 C. flour
1 egg, beaten
coarse salt
Preparation

Mix water, yeast and sugar;
let stand 15 minutes.
Mix in flour and knead 10 minutes.
Preheat oven 5 minutes to warm; turn oven off
Place mixture in greased bowl. cover. Place in warmed oven 1 hour until mixture doubles.
When doubled in volume, twist into pretzels.
Place on greased cookie sheet.
Spread thin coat of egg on each pretzel.
Sprinkle with coarse salt.
Bake in 475 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes.
Yield 2 dozen.
