Basic Plain Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
3/4 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour, sifted
1/4 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking powder
Preparation

Cream shortening; add sugar and continue creaming until fluffy.
Add eggs.
Beat until light.
Sift flour; measure.
Add salt and baking powder and sift twice more.
Add vanilla to milk. Add dry and liquid ingredients alternately to creamed mixture. Beat until thoroughly blended.
Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 375\u00b0. Makes 2 (8-inch) layers.
