German-Style Sauerkraut Kugel - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 medium head cabbage
    3 Tbsp. oil (original fat or drippings)
    4 slices white bread
    1/2 c. flour
    1/4 c. chopped candied peel (orange, grapefruit, citron are fine)
    1/2 c. chopped almonds
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. each: cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice
    juice and grated rind of 1 lemon
    6 eggs
    1/2 c. packed dark brown sugar
    1/2 c. seedless raisins
Preparation
    Discard outer cabbage leaves.
    Wash rest and chop or shred fine.
    Saute in oil/fat until browned.
    Soak bread in water; squeeze thoroughly and mix with cabbage.
    Put in a large mixing bowl.
    Add rest of ingredients, blending well.
    Grease a 10-inch tube pan well; pour in mix and bake at 325\u00b0 for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until firm.
