Steak And Potato Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 lb. round steak (1/2 to 3/4-inch thick)
    1/4 c. flour
    3 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1/4 c. oil
    3 1/2 c. water
    8 medium carrots, thinly sliced
    8 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
    1 3/8 oz. envelope onion soup mix
    chopped parsley for garnish
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 325\u00b0.
    Cut meat into 6 to 8 serving pieces. Trim fat and bone.
    Pound mixture of flour, salt and pepper into meat.
    Use meat mallet or heavy saucer.
    Brown meat in heavy skillet in hot oil, using medium heat.
    Do not crowd pieces. Arrange browned meat in a 3-quart casserole dish.
    Place carrots and potatoes on top.
    Sprinkle with onion soup mix and pour over it 3 1/2 cups water.
    Bake, covered, 2 hours or until tender. If you wish, thicken with 2 tablespoons flour mixed with 1 tablespoons butter.
    Form into balls and drop into casserole dish. Return to oven for 10 minutes.
    Sprinkle with parsley and serve.
