Pea Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 bag dry peas
    1 onion medium
    3 potatoes, diced
    4 carrots, drained
    leftover ham
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Wash and sort peas.
    Boil in enough water to cover peas for 20 minutes.
    Let stand for 20 more minutes and drain.
    Fill pot with fresh water.
    Add remaining ingredients and simmer until desired consistency.
