A Pretty Dish Of Venison - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    breast of venison
    1/4 lb. butter
    salt and pepper
    wheat flour or rolled crackers
    boiling water
    1 Tbsp. currant jelly
Preparation
    Cut venison in steaks.
    Melt butter in pan.
    Rub steaks with mixture of salt and pepper, roll in wheat flour or rolled crackers and fry a rich brown.
    When both sides are done, take them up on a dish and put cover over; dredge heaping teaspoon flour into butter in pan, stir until brown.
    Put to it a small teacup of boiling water with currant jelly dissolved into it.
    Stir and strain over meat and serve.
