My Mom'S Crumb Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. allspice
    2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 tsp. soda
Preparation
    Sift together flour, salt, cinnamon and allspice.
    Stir in brown sugar.
    Mix shortening in with dough blender until coarse meal.
    Reserve 1/2 cup mixture for topping.
    Stir in buttermilk, vanilla and soda (mix soda with a little warm water in measuring cup that buttermilk was in).
    Spread in a greased 9 x 13-inch pan; sprinkle with reserved topping on top and also sprinkle on cinnamon.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes.
