Orange Slice Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter or margarine
    2 c. sugar
    4 eggs
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 c. buttermilk
    3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    1 lb. pitted dates, chopped
    2 c. chopped nuts
    1 lb. orange slice candies
    1 (4 oz.) can flaked coconut
    2 c. orange juice
    2 c. confectioners sugar
Preparation
    Preheat oven
    to
    250\u00b0.
    In
    large bowl, cream together butter or margarine
    and
    sugar.
    Add
    eggs,
    one\tat
    a time, beating well after\teach
    addition.
    In
    a measuring cup, dissolve baking soda
    in
    buttermilk.
    In
    a medium bowl, combine flour, dates, nuts and candies.
    Mix until thoroughly blended. Add coconut and stir to blend.
    Add flour mixture and buttermilk mixture to creamed mixture.
    Blend until a stiff dough is formed.
    Spoon dough
    into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan.
    Bake
    2
    1/2 hours or until cake is golden brown.
    (Cake will not test for doneness.)
